I have been struggling since yesterday to come up with an artist or a band for the title song poetry challenge—today’s letter X is a shallow pool of choices. I wrote a little poem (you can read it in the comments of Writer Pilgrim’s post), but as it turned out it was not enough. With no alternatives, I turned my attention to the Greek alphabet. Among these strange-looking letters abides a great master, whose legacy exceeds the borders of this strange country I call home, and whose compositions are forever engraved in everyone’s soul.
I chose four of his songs to write the poem and made a free translation to rewrite it in English. Substack’s fonts do not behave well with Greek letters, so I had to compromise with an image for both text versions.
Manos Hadjidakis needs no further words from me, his work speaks for him.
Lovely, Fotini, and Thank you for introducing me to the music of Manos Hadjidakis!
Love the music. It reminds me a bit of the track ‘Her Eyes the Stars’ by LUCHS. https://youtu.be/Ob_z702E0VU?feature=shared
